Since 2007, VAN LEUVEN Communications has supported Gateway Greening, a non-profit organization in St. Louis, Mo. celebrating community food projects, education and wellness programs and civic greening. Gateway Greening has become the go-to resource and recognized expert within the realm of community greening and urban farming. Gateway Greening holds an annual fundraiser called Chefs in the Garden. Well-known chef’s in the St. Louis area donate their time on behalf of Gateway Greening and create dishes based around local food items. VLC supported this event each September for the past four years, announcing the program and creating awareness of the event to drive ticket sales. VLC also works to give recognition to the chefs who kindly donate their time to the event. VLC has gained media coverage of the Chefs in the Garden event on numerous morning shows including Good Day St. Louis and the KFCK Morning Show. In 2009, VLC secured the first TV coverage for the event, when two chefs prepared a meal on the FKCK Morning Show with Heidi Glaus. The Society Section of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Fauxe Magazine, Alive Magazine, also featured the event in their publications. VLC staffs the event to coordinate with any photographers and media that may attend, ensuring that photos are taken of the right people and all media-related details are coordinated properly.
